The Village
The village is about a half-hour's drive from the A75 Euroroute that links Dumfries and the ferry terminal of Stranraer. Lying at the tip of the Machars peninsula, the Isle is one of Scotland's most southerly communities - further south than Newcastle on Tyne in England!
Getting To The Isle Of Whithorn By Road
Directions from M6
Follow M6 North to the end and continue along A74.
Just after the Gretna turn off watch for sign A75 Stranraer and branch left.
Follow A75 signposted Stranraer throughout until you get to Newton Stewart.
At roundabout turn left signposted A714, Wigtown.
Follow this road until you see a sign Kirkinner/Whithorn and turn right.
Follow this road until you get to Whithorn.
Drive through Whithorn and at the end of the main street branch left sign posted Isle of Whithorn and just follow sighs to the isle of Whithorn.
On entering the Isle of Whithorn on the B7004, pass the Queens Arm Pub on left, take the next on to the B7063 left opposite the post office. Pass the white community centre on your right. Take the Next right on to Laigh Isle. On the site take the second road on you right (round about). Number 2 is the second building on you right.
